Семейство Маршанциевые (Marchantiaceae)

Маршанция многообразная - один из наиболее известных и широко распространенных видов печеночных мхов, или печеночников. Как и у других печеночников, доминирующим поколением является гаметофит, характеризующийся сравнительно простой организацией. Вегетативное тело не дифференцировано на стебель и листья и представлено плоским, стелющимся по поверхности слоевищем, на брюшной стороне которого расположены ризоиды. Архегонии и антеридии развиваются на особых подставках, возвышающихся над слоевищем. Мужские подставки маршанции имеют округлую форму, женские - звездовидные. Часто на слоевище бывают заметны выводковые корзиночки, представляющие собой специализированные органы вегетативного размножения. Внутри таких корзиночек развиваются многоклеточные выводковые тельца, которые при прорастании дают начало новому растению.

Маршанция широко распространена в умеренном поясе. Она предпочитает тенистые влажные места, часто на скалах или на стенах, где слабее конкуренция со стороны других растений. В благоприятных условиях ее слоевища могут занимать достаточно большую площадь.
