Grammatophyllum papuanum J.J. Sm. 1911.

Эпифит, иногда поселяется как литофит. Очень крупное растение, псевдобульбы достигают длины до 2.5 метров. Разрастется гигантским пучком, общий вес взрослого растения может быть от нескольких десятков кг до одной тонны. В 1851 году в Crystal Palace (London, England) демонстрировался экземпляр весом 2 тонны.

Соцветие иногда достигает длины 3 метров, несет до 90 цветков, каждый из которых около 10 см в поперечнике. Цветение наступает раз в 2-4 года и продолжается около 2-х месяцев.
